GOA VILLA ACCOMMODATION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Visitors to Colva Beach Resort and Goa may have many questions both before and during their visit.

One of the most informative links that will help visitors is:

However, please note that we cannot guarantee the accuracy of any external website.

Specific questions that have been raised about Colva Beach Resort , Goa and Meera Holiday Villa are the following:

• When is the best time to Visit Meera Holiday Villa
The main Holiday Season runs through from October to April – when the Charter flights land directly in Goa.

However, our current experience is that Goa is an all year round destination. All Year - Scheduled flights are available from Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester – with carriers including BA, Jet Airways, Kingfisher, Qatar Airways, Air India and Virgin Atlantic. The main flight is normally to Mumbai or Qatar - with a short flight following onto Goa.

• How long is the direct charter flight from the UK to Goa
The flight time is normally 9.5 hours approximately. This will depend on which UK airport that you fly from. There are a selection of airports – including Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and East Midlands.

• Is anyone there to meet us and who will show us around the villa.
We operate a full Meet and Greet Service and they look after the management of the Goa Villa and any issues that arise. They are a local Goan couple - with a good understanding of English, Dutch & German. They will explain all the facilities in the villa and will manage cleaning and any other required services.

• How long is the transfer from the Goa airport
The best method from the Goa airport is by Taxi. There is a general taxi rank at the airport and normally a taxi is available. This takes approximately 25 minutes and currently, the taxi fare is 500/- to 650/- rps. (around Ł8) depending on the time of day. Indian currency is usually available in the airport. If required, we can book our regular driver on your behalf - His charges will be higher as he provides a higher grade vehicle, with possible waiting time for your flight and he will incur parking fees. However, this is a guaranteed pick up by a reliable driver that knows our villa location.

• Is Colva Beach Resort flat or very hilly
The walk from Meera Holiday Goa Villa to the beach takes 2 minutes. It is an easy walk and is very flat. The walk to the beach is photographed on the website. You can stroll down the beach directly to Colva main centre or further to the next villages. There are many Colva Beach Shacks - so you can easily stop off at any point and enjoy the beach.

• Where can you get direct flights from in the UK to Goa
Charter flights are available from East Midlands, Birmingham, Manchester and Gatwick. The carriers include Thomson, First Choice, Monarch, Direct Holidays, My Travel and Thomas Cook. This gives a large selection of flights - but staying for a longer period – you would probably have to fly on a scheduled flight to Mumbai and then take a short flight to Goa. Scheduled flights are available from Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester – with carriers including BA, Jet Airways, Kingfisher, Qatar Airways, Air India and Virgin Atlantic.

• How far is the nearest cafe/restaurant for breakfast
Just across the street - There are 2 - which open at around 8:30am and are open all day. One is called Fishland and is photographed on the website under "Colva beach restaurant at night". There is also Sams Restaurant next door to us and this is highly recommended.

• Where is the nearest beach shack with sun-beds
There are a selection of Beach Shacks in operation on the beach immediately across from Goa Villa. Also if you buy drinks or food (even just a bottle of water) - the beds are usually free all day. The Colva Beach Shacks have Beds with mattresses, Tables, Sun Shades, Surfing Boards, TV’s with English Football and Pool Tables.

• Is there a maid service
Yes and it is free of charge. She will change bedding and towels as necessary – she will also keep the place clean and tidy. We insist that the maid attends Colva Villa each day and she will clean the main areas daily. Bedrooms are cleaned and changed twice per week. However, should any guest decline cleaning for their stay we do charge a flat rate against the security deposit as we have to incur charges for intensive cleaning when the guest leaves and we cannot receive any incoming guests (This charge is notified to you in the Villa).

• I get the impression that there are no other properties in the surrounding area - Is this a new developing site
The area is totally natural and with the level of specification of the Goa Villa - it is very rare, if not impossible, to find a better Goan location. To the East, West and South the Villa is surrounded by San-dunes which we believe are owned by The Indian Tourist Board and no building should be allowed.

There are nine individual villas - each along the same theme / design. Some are residential - which is why we only let to responsible tourists - as we have an obligation to our good neighbours. Additionally, new laws in Goa restrict any new builds in our area - being so close to the beach - so in theory no additional building should take place at all.

• We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids – Please advise us on the bedrooms to use
Each bedroom is suitable for 2 people. They are all furnished to a high standard and it is best to take a look at our photos and video - so you can judge each room for yourself. Feedback on each bedroom has been excellent - so there is plenty of choice. Each bedroom has mosquito nets over the doors and windows – so all day and night ventilation is excellent.

• What is the maximum number of people – including children allowed
We strictly only allow 6 people. We get many requests for 7 or more people – but these are rejected as we want all our guests to be comfortable and for health and safety reasons we will not exceed 6 people.

• Do you rent rooms or the entire villa
We only rent the entire villa. We allow up to groups of 6 people in 3 double bedrooms.

• We plan to drive down from Mumbai and we were wondering if there will be place to park near the villa.
Parking is right outside the villa.

• Why does the booking form request Passport details
Passport details (& photocopies) have to be lodged at Colva Police Station as a matter of law within 24 hours of arrival. Also, a good policy is to carry a copy passport on you all the time – as the authorities may request this whilst you are outside of the Villa.

• How secure is Colva, Goa and Meera Holiday Villa Accommodation
South Goa is a safe area – but you must take the same sort of precautions that you would at home – especially at night. Meera Holiday Villa Accommodation is secured by window and lockable door grills, Deadlock main doors and bedroom locks. We believe that this is the appropriate level of security in order to make you holiday stay both safe and enjoyable.

• Do you allow pets in Meera Holiday Villa Accommodation
We do try to not discriminate against owners of pets and dogs in particular. However, we allow one well trained and well behaved dog. The owner is 100% responsible for the dog both inside and outside the Villa. The dog should be restricted to the main day rooms and not allowed into bedrooms. The dog should not be allowed onto any furniture or seating. It is best to keep the dog secured on the main terrace for the nights. Any damage, stratches or excessive cleaning caused by the dog will be chargeable at a rate determined by ourselves and your security deposit will be retained until all damage is rectified and costs are finalised.

• Is smoking allowed in Goa Villa
We do not allow smoking in Goa Villa itself – but you can feel free to smoke on the main terrace, in the gardens or on your own personal balcony. Please do not smoke in the living rooms and bedrooms. All main rooms display "No Smoking" signs. Breaking this request is being very disrespectful to our future non-smoking guests and the express wishes of the Villa Management.
